Principal Owner and Senior  Engineer:

Les Thompson:  Les Thompson has been  involved in the recording arts since 1966. Being one of the founding members of  the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band,  Les has worked on many of the bands early albums  from their first Nitty Gritty Dirt Band release through their monumental Will  the Circle Be Unbroken. Working  with recording greats such as, Doc Watson,  Mother Maybell Carter, Vasser Clements, Earl Scruggs. and many other renown  artists and has recieved two Grammy Nominations and three gold and platinum  albums.  With his introduction to both sides of the studio window,  Les has  worked on numerous other recording and television projects which he has produced  and or engineered, include a number of ABCs After School Play Breaks.  Les has  also worked with blues rocker Spencer Davis of the Spencer Davis Group. 

While Cabin  Studios is fully capable of  handling any music type or genre, we specializes in  the recording of acoustic instruments and vocals.

 The new  recording facility sits on top of the rolling hills of the Appalachian Blue  Ridge in peaceful secluded woods outside Washington DC.

 The studio  has a musicians pool on call ranging from traditional acoustic music to rock and  roll to symphonic music, with diversity ranging from Celtic to Kiss.  A writing  and arranging  staff is also available on request.
